The diaphragm sensor is a thin flexible metal disk. Pressure applied to one side of the disk causes a deflection that actuates the indicator, transmitter, or controller. Diaphragm elements are used to measure very low pressures, and vacuums from ¼ inch to 5 inches H2O. They are commonly used to measure furnace draft pressures.
